How toner cartridge chips were created?

Toner cartridges basically did not have toner chips at early stages, because third-party printer consumables and accessories technology was not mature at the time, and printer models not as rich as today. The original manufacturer does not restrict the use of compatible consumables. Install the right cartridge model, it could be used.Such as HP 1010/1020,Canon 2900/3000,Brother 7340/7360,Samsung 4521f.

For HP and Canon, there is no such threshold. As long as the toner cartridge is detected, it can be used. Users can refill toner after cartridge's toner empty.

Brother uses the technology of gear reset and button reset. You need to enter specific instructions to tell the printer that you have changed the toner cartridge or refill toner;

Samsung 4521 uses the fuse technology, adding a fuse on the toner cartridge. When the printer detects the toner cartridge, it adds a momentary pulse current to the toner cartridge's fuse, and the fuse instantly blows.

The printer detects this fuse signal and automatically resets to complete the zeroing operation. Since the fuse is disposable, the fuse needs to be replaced when refill toner.

Later, more and more third-party toner cartridges appeared, and the OEM toner cartridge shipments gradually declined, so chips were added to the toner cartridges.
